Measuring nearly 4.75 inches tall, this wonderfully rare, early 1920's, lithographed tin toy is unmarked. The little boy shuffles along quite nicely via his original wind-up mechanism. Over 80 years old, he is still quite sturdy as he was well made, but does show some superficial scratching from use over the years. Of particular interest is the little boy's face which is highly exaggerated, a racist characterization that was unfortunately typical of the era when this toy was produced.

Measuring 4 1/4 inches in diameter x 1 1/8 inches high x 6 inches long, this fabulous, circa late 19th Century, solid brass Native American and African American SLAVE FACE Bowl is an extraordinarily RARE find! The craftsmanship and detailing of the bowl is superb! It is quite the extraordinary find to discover any Black Memorabilia item reflecting the common but not widely acknowledged practice of interracial marriage among the indigenous Native American and the freed/slave African American population in 18th and 19th century Southern New England coastal towns and cities that were part of the Slave/Sugar/Rum Trade Triangle of the era. Rightfully viewed as a museum piece, this finely-executed figural bowl is certainly reflective of a unique and little known aspect of African American as well as Native American History! The bowl is in utterly pristine condition with no faults other than expected age patina to the surface. There are no markings on this piece which appears to be hand forged given the subtle asymmetry of the overall shape of the bowl as well as the detailing of the facial features. This truly unique and rare item would be an important addition to the serious collector’s Black Americana collection!

Measuring 8.25 inches long, this vintage, Black Chef Spoon rest was made in JAPAN in the 1950's. Along with its jolly, wide-eyed caricature, the spoon rest features a rose-colored tulip painted on both sides and reads “SPOON- REST” in partially worn, brown lettering at the top of the chef’s hat. Note small "hanging hole" in back for display on the kitchen wall!Very few of these pieces survive due to the high level of use they encountered. This piece has obviously not seen any use at all as the paint remains absolutely perfect! No chips, cracks, breaks or repairs with very minor crazing and some very, very light beige discoloration at the outer edge of the handle bottom, this fine and very hard-to-find piece of Black Americana is an essential addition for the serious collector! Fabulous detailing!! Please see the last photo for a companion piece-- an 6 inch Black MAMMY Spoon Rest, 1950's Japan-- also available for purchase and priced separately at $155.00.

Measuring a diminutive 10 inches wide x 7 inches high, this RARE, Circa 1880's, tin, drug store advertisement is sure to generate conversation at your next cocktail party! The sign states: "Scott's Santal-Pepsin Capsules A Positive CURE for Kidney and Bladder Diseases. Cures Quickly And Permanently The Most Obstinate Case of Gonorrhea and Gleet No Matter of How Long Standing. Absolutely Harmless. Sold by Druggists Price $1.00. Put Up Only By The SANTAL-PEPSIN Co., Bellefontaine, O. SOLD BY PHELPS PHARMACY, F.W. Beavees, Mgr., Cor. Wyoming Ave. and Spruce St., Se******, PA." This amazing venereal disease cure sign features a most formidable likeness of Mr. Scott flanked by a Laurel Crown in the upper left hand corner, no doubt intended to add fortitude to the claims he makes of his product! The sign was made by the Scioto Sign Co of Kenton, Ohio, and is so marked in the lower right corner. This bright yellow sign shows ravages of its 118+ years of age, with crimps and creases to the tin, small holes-- no doubt made to hang the sign up--, scratches to the surface resulting in paint loss, and some superficial rusting where paint is missing. Some fading to lettering in the lower right. Regardless of its "age marks", this sign is certainly a one-of-a-kind find that will add sparkle to a collection! May be hung on a wall on displayed on a shelf! Not to be missed!

This is a fine example of an antique pharmacy tool-of-the-trade known as a pill machine (often mistakenly labeled as a "pill roller").
It is constructed of what appears to be walnut with a brass mechanism. The early pharmacist slid the top paddle over the matching base, cutting a dough-like, medicinal mixture into cylindrical tubes. The medicinal tubes were then placed on a pill tile and were measured and cut with a pill knife to sizes providing the proper dosages. The base measures 12" L x 7.25" W. The paddle measures nearly 16 inches long. Condition is very good with the expected wear commensurate with age and use. Sports a fabulous patina!

Measuring 7 1/2 inches high x 6 inches in diameter, this very visually appealing, bright red, 3 pound size, VINTAGE LUZIANNE COFFEE TIN is in near excellent condition with just a few very tiny rubs and scratches and some superficial rust to the base. (Please disregard any variation in surface color that may appear in some photos. Color is vivid and uniform throughout. Any color variation seen in photos is due to lighting conditions and light reflections, not tin discoloration.)The tin bears a copyright date of 1928, and given its fine condition, was obviously safely tucked away over the past 75+ years! Processed and packaged by the William B. Reilly Company of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Baltimore, Maryland, this fabulous tin retains its original bail handle as well as its original cover! The tin features a vivid graphic of "Mammy Serving Coffee" which was the second style of Mammy graphic used by the company on its coffee tins. Additionally, this tin was part of a special sale promotion as evidenced by the advertising on the lid which is now partially worn off. The advertising reads: "Special 15 Cents Off Offer".
In marvelous condition- an especially lovely and visually appealing piece of vintage Black Americana advertising!!!

Measuring 9.5 x 11.5 inches framed, this lovely, circa 1950’s, multi-colored, cross stitch sampler is entitled, “Enough Is As Good As A Feast”. In excellent condition and appearing to have been recently re-framed, this lovely piece features a Mammy and child carrying meal-filled dishes, presumably, to the dinner table. The sampler also features pretty flowers, and appropriately, a knife and a fork! The tiniest trace of a stain is barely visible at the top of the fork, but truly, it is not readily noticeable and certainly does not detract from the marvelous visual appeal of this very sweet piece!

Schering is noted for creating some of the most colorful, striking, and detailed of all 20th century pharmacy commemoratives! This fabulous, Schering-produced, reverse-painted, glass, display windowpane honors the many pharmacy fraternities that were established from 1883 through 1919. This apothecary display piece is a work of art mimicking the appearance of a vintage stained glass window! The original paint was applied so as to produce an aged or antiqued appearance that is quite complimentary to the piece! Quite visually appealing, the display piece depicts a traditional show globe in each corner; it is further embellished by the Greek key design that encapsulates the symbol of the pharmacy trade – a mortar and pestle. The circa 1960’s, commemorative display can be seated in a stand if desired, measuring 9” high x 6” wide. It is in very nice unused condition. A lovely drug store collectible!
