$350.00

Please note: This item was photographed under glass, and thus some photos depict unavoidable light reflection which distorts both color and condition. Coloring of poster is rich and is uniform throughout with consistent color and tone. Please view all photos for true representation of fine condition.

Offered is a fabulous and seldom found World War I poster that honors the service of the African-American male Army Calvary soldier.

Tastefully rendered, this 17" x 20" paper lithographed poster on cardboard depicts a World War I African-American Calvary soldier bidding farewell to his proud girlfriend/wife as his regiment marches forward off to war in the background.

This rarely found poster is entitled, "COLORED MAN IS NO SLACKER". It was published in 1918 by S.G. Renesch of Chicago (thus printed in lower left hand corner).

The poster remains in its original, black-painted, wooden frame with glass, with original nails holding the poster in place in the back.

The poster remains in very fine condition for its 90 years of age, showing some subtle wrinkling of paper to the lower 1/5th of the poster, likely the result of subjection to dampness, although, please note, that NO water staining is present.

This poster is a credit to the service of the many African-American men who so faithfully served and died to protect the liberty of the United States of America.

A must-have addition to one's Black Memorabilia collection!

$70.00

Measuring 22 inches long x 14 inches wide, this heavy cardboard poster advertises the American Legion sponsored 6th Annual Minstrel Show At East Hartford Public High School, East Hartford, Connecticut! The March 1954 show was to be a benefit for the town’s Youth Activities, Rehabilitation and Child Welfare. The poster features an interesting caricature of a Black Face Minstrel Gent!

Condition and color are quite fine with the exception of some edge roughness which will not be visible when the piece is framed, and evidence of perhaps a grease stain near the “R” in the word Minstrel- just adds a bit of interesting patina to this piece of Black Memorabilia ephemera!

$275.00

This extraordinary, circa 1930's, advertising piece possesses a vintage provenance having been recently de-acquisitioned from the contents of the Victoria Hardware Store of Victoria, Virginia. Victoria Hardware was opened in the early 1900's and remained a family run business for 96 years! This wonderful Minstrel Show Poster was likely displayed in the store window advertising the coming community performance.

Measuring 28 inches wide x 22 inches high, this hand-painted, hand-stenciled sign is constructed of heavy mil cardboard. Other than some light-toned, minimal water staining at each upper corner of the sign, condition is wonderful! No repaint! The red and black on white coloring remains bright and vibrant!

A fabulous piece of vintage Black Americana!
