$165.00

This old original double sided metal flange sign measures approximately 8 1/4 by 10 1/2 inches and dates to the 1920-1930 period. The condition is very good on one side as seen in the photographs. There is some unobtrusive paint loss and minor crimping and age stains on the sign. It is marked "Chas. W. Shonk Co. Litho. Chicago. No J4412. Both sides have the same image but one side is in much more much better condition than the other as the photos note.

Cardui was advertised for difficult menstruation, leucorrhea, backache, headache, dizziness, and general female disorder. First produced in the late 19th century, Cardui was a 38-proof Patent Medicine distributed by the Chattanooga Medicine Company of Chattanooga Tennessee. Like most of these old cures, Cardui owed much of it's medicinal properties, to the high alcohol content, 19% by volume, which is more than wine! It also promised to cure ailments such as: Tumors, Cancers, Women’s Social Diseases, Etc. It specifically claimed to relieve painful menstruation, from which the imbiber did likely find at least temporary relief!

Will make a wonderful display and addition to your collection!
