This is a wonderful example of an early Merck poison bottle sporting a very attractive shield style label. Condition of the bottle is fine and the label is 99% complete with minor flaws of an antique bottle. Measures about 8 inches tall. Some History: It was historically used in combination with other plants, such as mandrake, deadly nightshade, and datura as an anesthetic potion, as well as for its psychoactive properties in "magic brews." These psychoactive properties include visual hallucinations and a sensation of flight. Sweet!

Incredible graphics say it all for this highly unique, female medicine bottle, BonKora, dating from the 1930s - 1940s era. The bottle measures nearly 7.5 inches high and is complete with original contents. The condition of the bottle is very nice with only minor staining next to the letters in the word, BONKORA. Although the box is damaged, it displays well as it retains the image of the nude female- an interesting conversation piece! A bit of history: BONKORA was actually advertised as a weight loss treatment in print advertising, although this usage is not stated on the box. With sales in decline in the late 1930s, the BONKORA manufacturer attempted to make their product a bit more interesting by streamlining the original, bulkier silhouette in their advertising and adding a naked lady on the label. While a clever touch, the product’s popularity continued to wan – perhaps due to a combination of the economics of the Great Depression and the increased federal enforcement of earlier-legislated laws prohibiting unsubstantiated wild curative claims for any and all maladies.

Offered is a very handsome pharmacy sign sporting gold gilt lettering that is further enhanced by a hand-painted-on-glass, faux mahogany background. This graphically-appealing sign dates to the 1930s - 1940s era and displays quite well. The sign measures 25.5" x 13" and is in very nice condition. There is minimal, unobtrusive lifting of the paint on glass and minor wear to the finish of the wooden frame. A label on the back notes "Rodwell Sign Co., Buffalo, NY".
History: In 1871, Hervey Parke and George Davis became the owners of the company that was to bear their names for the next century. In addition to creating many medicines and biologicals, various innovations became industry standards such as: the standardizing of
liquid formulations - the establishment of quality controls in 1886 by using lot numbers on the labels - and creating the first commercial biological laboratory in this country in 1885 to name just a few.

This is a wonderful example of a Quack Medical device from the 1930s. Inside the black, cloth-covered, fitted case lies a beautiful massage apparatus complete with all attachments and 36 page instruction booklet. Measuring about 7" x 4", this "Rolex" brand-labeled device and its three attachments are in very nice condition. The booklet has a copyright date of 1934 and is packed with photos and suggested uses for the massager including treatment of headaches and renewing vigor! The case measures about 8" x 10" and sports a fabulous interior label. The cord is a bit dry so I opted to not plug it in. (I would expect that this device is functional as all the other electric medical devices from this collection were in working condition. Without plugging it in, I cannot guarantee if it works, so please purchase with this in mind.) Working or not, this interesting, Quack Medical device is a unique "find" and is ready for your collection.

This visually graphic, 3 piece, CALADRYL CREAM display advertisement is absolutely wonderful! This drugstore countertop diecut display collection dates to the 1950s. According to Parke Davis, the pharmacist had the liberty to arrange these colorful displays in a fashion suitable to the individual drug store setting. These 2 delightful images of a happy family are held up with a fold out support on the back.
The 2 diecuts measure approximately 10.5” wide x 15.5” high, and the small Caladryl medicine image is 7” tall x 6” wide. The set is in unused condition with only a few minor and unobtrusive crimps to the edges and the images are near perfect. Marked ”Litho in U.S.A.” on each piece. A lovely display ready for your collection! Included are several copies of the advertising brochure given to pharmacy customers to help promote the sale of the product.
