$100.00, 80.00, 55.00

A wonderful grouping of 3 Glover's Veterinary Dog Specific Condition Pill Tins including 2 early versions that sport fabulous Art Nouveau graphics!

The 2 green colored tins date to the 1910 - 1923 time period and measure about 3.25" long x 2 inches wide. The condition of the first green tin is very good with various surface scratches, areas of unobtrusive paint loss and general wear of a vintage tin. Price: $100.00.

The second green tin shows a bit more paint loss especially on the bottom and is a darker shade of green. Price: $80.00.

The 3rd brownish, newer-vintage tin dates to the 1925-1937 era. The graphics are less distinctive and not of the quality of the two earlier samples although it displays quite well. The condition is very good with minor paint loss, a small ding by the letter "D" in dogs, and a small spot of surface rust on the right base. Price: $55.00.

All 3 covers and hinges work well and all 3 tins are the same size. Made by "METAL ????? CORP. BRKLYN, NY".

Some History: Henry Clay Glover started practicing veterinary medicine sometime prior to 1877. In 1888, his medicines were awarded the medal of superiority by the American Institute of New York. He identified himself as a “Specialist in Canine Diseases". As a personal testimonial, he stated that as of 1897, he had been the Veterinarian to the Westminster Kennel Club for 20 years.

The first known address for Dr. Glover is 1293 Broadway, New York City. Tins with this address state “H. Clay Glover,V.S. Prop", and appear to be the earliest-known. Some time prior to 1914, the company moved to 118 West 31st Street. Glover was still sole proprietor, but by 1917 the company was incorporated, and the tins stated “H. Clay Glover Co” while retaining the West 31st Street address. The company moved to 127-129 West 24th Street in 1923.

Absolutely the cutest veterinary tin!! This darling tin measures a diminutive 1.75" in diameter and sports a great image of a horse. The condition is very good with strong paint, a few tiny crimps and faint scratches and slight wear. Unsure of the exact manufacture date, although its design is suggestive of the 1940s.
