Offered are 2, extremely rare, New Haven, Connecticut, patrolman's record books dated 1897 and 1898. Each book is filled with individually-dated, hand-written entries documenting a day in the life of the late 19th century, city policeman.

These record books were considered official documents and were required record-keeping for every patrolman to be completed after each tour of duty and once completed for the day, were kept under secure watch by the officer in charge at the police station.

The record books were completed by Patrolman William J. Welch during November 1897 and by Patrolman George Taylor during March 1898.

The Flag is double-sided and looks fabulous when viewed from either side.

Measuring 8.25 inches in diameter and 2.5 inches high, this gorgeous, Ohio-made, yellowware fruit bowl features fabulous, heavy blue sponging with gold gilt highlights along its decoratively embossed and scalloped rim.

The bowl has glaze crazing typical of an 85+ year old piece of pottery with no cracks or hairlines. Three imperfections are noted and are in close proximity to one another (see photo): a manufacturer’s abrasion that is coated in original glazing and two small, superficial (1/8” and ¼”) flakes.

An lovely piece of American Spongeware! Becoming much more difficult to find- particularly in this condition!

The cover has glaze crazing typical of an 85+ year old piece of pottery and a 4 inch long, tight hairline that begins at the rim and runs toward the center of the cover. These covers are quite rare and very seldom found as they were among the first pieces to become damaged from frequent and daily use.

Measuring 6.75 inches in diameter and 4 inches high, this wonderful, C1920, Ohio-made, yellow ware, spongeware batter bowl features fabulous blue sponging and is much more striking “in person” than the photos were able to capture.

The bowl sits on a 1/8" high footed base and has a lovely turned edge rim. It has glaze crazing typical of an 85+ year old piece of pottery as well as two, very tight hairlines approximately 1.50 inches in length. One is placed at the pouring spout and the other near the back fingerhold. There are also two, tiny, 1/8" long superficial flakes--one on the outside edge to the rim and one on the body of the batter bowl. The batter bowl is also missing its wire handle.

An outstanding piece of American Spongeware which is seldom found due to the heavy every-day use that a batter bowl would encounter. Becoming much more difficult to find!

Measuring 7 inches in diameter at its widest point and 10 inches high, this lovely, C1920, Ohio-made, yellow ware, blue spongeware pitcher exudes elegance! It features a fabulous, embossed and sculpted rim and a decorative handle, both accented with gold gilt!

The pitcher sits on a footed base and has a generous, bulbous-shaped body. It has glaze crazing typical of an 85+ year old piece of pottery, superficial flakes as noted in photos, and two hairlines at the base (see photos) which likely were acquired through use over the years. The hairlines seem tight and do not appear to threaten the integrity of the piece. P> An outstanding piece of American Spongeware! Offered is an unusual, scarcely-found, C1920, Ohio-made, yellow ware, blue spongeware pottery funnel measuring 10.75 inches in diameter and 3.75 inches high. Remnants of gold gilt painting adorn the rim. Condition is quite good with the only remarkable defects seen in two places along the rim--approximately two, 2 inch long, very tight hairlines present (these do not affect integrity)---and at the interior base, where 4 tiny, superficial flakes have turned rust-colored.

A rarely found piece to complete that Ohio yellowware-spongeware collection! (These are the utilitarian pieces that are most frequently broken during use, and thus, are rarely found!)

The bowl sits on a footed base and has a lovely turned edge rim. It has glaze crazing typical of an 85+ year old piece of pottery but no cracks, chips or hairlines. It does have 3 tiny circular rust marks on the base (see photos) which must have something to do with manufacture. !

This complete, 204 page, 1886 atlas is packed with wonderful hand-colored maps of the United States, each individual state, and the countries and continents of the world including two pages devoted to the principal cities of the world. Additionally, this teaching tool provides an interesting history of the political parties of the United States from 1607-1886, a chronological outline of American history from 986 to 1885, an illustration of the seals of each state, population charts, important inventions, an alphabetical list of the towns and counties of each state and many more examples of fascinating and obscure US historical trivia!

The hardbound text measures 14" L x 12" W. The cloth covers are faded with worn edges. The back cover remains bound to the spine. The front cover has become unbound from the book spine but remains loosely attached to the book via its cloth binding. The pages have light unobtrusive foxing while the hand-coloring remains unchanged by time. The majority of the maps and images measure 9.5" x 12" at the decorative borders. There are a handful of larger maps measuring 12" x 16" at their borders, i.e. Texas, Pennsylvania, California, USA, and South America (a bit smaller).

Published by Donahue and Henneberry, Printers and Binders, Chicago, March 1886.

A fabulous historical reference text and atlas that provides a perspective on the United States and the world in 1886. The maps and images are suitable for framing if desired, but this historical text begs to remain intact!

This delightful, 1920's, hand-painted, English pull toy features a darling horse and jockey!

When pulled by its string, the toy rolls along on its metal and rubber wheels, causing the jockey to raise and lower himself off of the horse as the horse makes a coordinated "jumping" motion as his front legs raise up slightly.

The toy is labeled "Loros Bros Ltd London England" within a small triangle that is painted on one side of the metal supporting rim (see photos). The horse and rider are constructed of wood and are affixed to the metal frame. The toy measures 11 inches tall when the rider is standing straight up and is 10.5 inches long.

Condition is quite fine given the toy's 80+ years of age. There are scrapes and minor wear to the paint here and there, the horse's tail is missing, and 2 newer nails in the horse's hind legs were added as reinforcement at some point. The toy is structurally sound and works quite well! It is simply adorable and displays beautifully!!

Offered is a wonderful, circa 1960s, unused Toy Balloon display box complete with its original "one gross" of red, blue, white, yellow and green balloons! Box is stamped "Made in USA" and "A Quality"!

Meant to be displayed on a store counter top and the balloons to be sold individually, this display is in complete, untouched, never-used, condition.

The box colors are actually brighter than the photos convey. The box measures 8.25 inches wide x 6 inches deep x 2.25 inches high. The box cover features a Mexican gentleman leading his donkey-pulled-cart that is brimming with brightly-colored, inflated balloons. The cover is designed in the "pop-up style" (see photo number 1) which enhances its visual display appeal!

Obviously due to the 40+ years age of these balloons, they are no longer meant to be functional but are now to be enjoyed for display only!

Measuring a size 4 on a ring sizer, this delicate sterling silver ring is an unusual estate find that is approximately 20 years old and said to have been purchased by the original owner in a scrimshaw shop on the coast of Maine.

Marked "STERLING 9" on the back, this ring features a very delicately etched bunch of blue flowers. The ring is also initialed "W" by the artist on the lower front of the ivory in an exceedingly tiny letter!

A lovely estate piece!
