This difficult to find tool-of-the trade pharmacy “IDEAL CAPSULE FILLER” was used by early 20th century druggists to enhance their capsule production. The patent date is stamped Oct. 31, 1905, and research indicates that it was produced by the "Baltimore Capsule Co."

The machine produces 2 different size capsules and has a filling plate that sports 4 parallel rows, each having the capacity of making 24 capsules. Also included are 2 capsule filling trays.

The condition of this wonderful apothecary tool of the trade is very good, complete with the warm, rich patina one would expect of an antique of this age including the usual scratches, marks and unobtrusive dings and tarnish. (Two top wood edges have been lost due to use, time and age as seen in the photos.) The metal parts appear to be nickel plated, and the wood base looks like walnut. The filler measures approximately 13”L x 4.5”W x 4.5” H.

The interior contains sand that was used to add weight and stabilize the box when in use.

A must addition for any pharmacy/apothecary collection!

Offered is a seldom found large quantity of vintage Rexall Pharmacy Drug Store Apothecary Bottle Labels. There are over 200 circa 1930-1940 era labels with very appealing printed graphics including some POISON and NARCOTIC examples.

These lovely Drug Store labels measure just over 2.25" x 3.25" and are complete with a gummed backing (similar to a postage stamp).

Most of the labels are in fine condition while others show various folds, paper loss (where they were stuck together by glue), and some labels missing pieces. This is all commensurate with the early storage of early paper. The labels are unused and have gummed backing and are ready for your collection.

Offered are 6 circa 1900 aqua colored patent medicine bottles which were part of my collection. The grouping sports embossed labels indicating that they were a remedy or healer for lung, cough, throat or chest ailments. They measure from 5 to 7 inches tall, are in very good shape with no cracks, a few manufacturers' imperfections such as tiny air bubbles and glass flaws.

DR BALLES HUSTENA (for asthma, cough and throat) triangle bottle is 5 inches tall, has a tiny fleck missing from lip and interior staining.

Dr HOOKER COUGH AND CROUP SYRUP is a round 5.5 inch bottle and has light interior staining and minor exterior scuffing.

HUGH DAVIES COUGH MIXTURE is 5.5 inches tall and except for some scuff marks is very nice. The embossing is not as bold as the other bottles.

C.DEAKIN & HUGHES 'CHEST COUGH AND LUNG HEALER' is 5.5 inches and in very good shape.

ONE MINUTE COUGH MIXTURE measures 5.5 inches and shows faint exterior staining or old patina that appears that it can be cleaned.

Dr. J. W. BULL'S COUGH SYRUP measures almost 7 inches and has minor interior staining. All bottles display fine and would make a lovely addition to your collection.

Offered is a patented, Civil War era, clear glass, hand-blown apothecary bottle sporting an appealing label under glass label that is marked 'ACID SULPH. DIL.'.

The base, ground glass stopper, and stunning gold gilt label make this bottle very desirable!

The condition of this 8 inch tall bottle is excellent. The glass label is undamaged with mild unobtrusive paint flecking around the edge. The ground glass stopper is fine and fits perfectly. As seen in the photos, the label appears very nice visually, despite what I would consider minimal manufacturers imperfections as noted. The bottle sports a few tin air bubbles, a 1/2 inch surface bubble on the top back and mild glass imperfection on the lower back of bottle. The base is boldly embossed with the following: "W N WALTON PATd SEP 23 1862".

An early bottle that displays beautifully!

The condition is very good with the expected wear and minor scuffs and imperfections of a vintage piece.

This is a complete, hard to find pharmacy “KONSEAL FILLING and CLOSING APPARATUS” that was used by early 20th century druggists.

The machine was made by The J. M. Grosvenor Co., Boston, and was the most widely used cachet preparation device in American pharmacies.

The condition of this wonderful apothecary tool of the trade is very good, complete with the warm, rich patina one would expect of an antique of this age including the usual scratches, marks and unobtrusive dings and tarnish. The metal parts appear to be nickel plated, and the case is of a hard wood construction. The metal KONSEAL apparatus, when open, measures approximately 18”L x 10”W x 2” H. Note that there is interior and exterior age damage in the center of the wooden case that includes a hairline split in the center. The photos should help better identify this description.

The accessories appear to be complete when compared to the images seen in the directions that is glued to the inside case and my reference text. There are 3 packets with paper directions for patient use.

The interior divider has some minor separation of joints that does not distract from this set.

A must addition for any pharmacy/apothecary collection.

This is an often overlooked and rarely found drug store tool-of-the-trade used by the early pharmacist called a POWDER FOLDER. This nice example is from the late 19th century and is made of all brass. The functional portion of the folder is on the top side which can be adjusted to expand or contract the working surface. I believe this to be of English origin by S.MAW & SONS though it is unmarked.

This diminutive beauty measures less than 4 inches when closed and just over 2 inches wide. It has a wonderful patina and is in fine condition and functional.

Compounded medicines were often bitter tasting and when in the powder form were enclosed in edible type paper. When swallowed the medicine would bypass the taste centers and dissolve in the stomach. Think of them as paper capsules.

Offered is an elusive early pharmacy "tool-of-the-trade" called a pill rounder. The early apothecary required multiple devices during the compounding of medicines into pills. This essential tool was designed to form the dough like medicine into uniform circular pills prior to using a pill silverer. The pill silverer coated the nostrum and thus finished off the process of pill making.

This handsome, lathe-turned, two-sided, wooden, pill rounder sports different depths to create two size pills. It measures about 2.75 inches in diameter.

The rounder sports a wonderful honey-colored patina on the original surface. The condition is very good with honorable wear and staining commensurate with an antique pharmacy tool. The rounder is not quite perfectly round, and it has a faint hairline split on the edge. It is, however, a wonderful example of the early pharmacy trade that is seldom found.

A must for your collection!

Offered are two very interesting and very difficult to find, antiquated, female pharmacy medications. Both drugs are in glass ampules, unused and reside in their original box packages.

First is a most unusual carton of 6 vials labeled "PITANTHM" which is a uterine stimulant used to promote labor. Inside the small 3.5" x 2.75" box are six unused ampules nesting within. The circa 1940's ampules measure 2" tall and sport a very cute paper label and are in perfect shape. The box shows mild wear, some stain and fading.

Secondly is an unused, Parke Davis, sex hormone ampule labeled "ANTUITRIN". The box measures 4" x 2" and is complete with a paper insert with directions, dose and indications including a date of 8-48. The medicine is in mint condition. The distilled water vial is about 3" high and the medicine ampule is about 2 inches tall with both sporting perfect labels. The box is in very good condition with some stains, wear and minor label loss.

A pair not to be missed!

Offered is a wonderful piece of circa 1940's, Lebanon, Tennessee, drug store history!

Researching the drug store's history was fascinating as the same family operated it for over 50 years! The SHANNON family founded and ran this all-inclusive, community-centered, soda fountain and drug store from 1912 until 1964. The years spanning from its 1912 opening through the 1950s appeared to be the drug store's heyday as it served as a popular community gathering place catering to local servicemen and their families for decades and through both World Wars. A wonderful article dated January 4, 2019, found in THE WILSON POST describes this drug store's fascinating history and is a must read!

This brightly colored, hand-painted, metal advertising sign measures 20 inches wide x 14 inches long, an ideal size for easy display in one's collection. Its condition suggests that it may never have been used. Upon close inspection, hand-applied, yellow brush strokes are noted, with the black lettering possibly applied as a stencil. Various small areas of paint loss and minor metal imperfections exist, all commensurate with age. A fabulous piece of Lebanon, Tennessee, advertising and local history!

Offered is an outstanding, Art Deco era, circa 1920-1930s, hanging, drug store, apothecary show globe in impeccable condition!

The fancy and highly-stylized, Art Deco, aluminum frame cradles an equally highly-stylized, classically-ribbed, clear glass show globe and finial. If so desired, the show globe will hold water. The frame is embellished with a buffed matte finish with design details outlined in contrasting black to further enhance the fabulous, Art Deco styling. The chain link is also painted black, echoing the black detailing of the frame, and it retains most of its gorgeous, original finish, with absolutely no pitting. This fabulous apothecary showpiece measures 29 inches from the top of its fancy hanger to the base.

The condition is absolutely excellent. The globe glass is clean and clear with a perfectly fitting, ground-glass stopper. The interior globe rim has an extremely shallow, minute, surface chip that is insignificant and is very difficult to see and photograph. The finial base has two practically undetectable, teeny, flea bites that cannot be seen when the finial is inserted into the globe rim, and which also, are too tiny to photograph.

The take away of this offering, this outstanding piece of nearly 100 year old, American pharmacy history, is both its exquisite Art Deco styling with extraordinary visual appeal, and its utterly excellent condition, making it a true rarity among extant Apothecary antiques and collectibles!

Offered is a group of six, very scarce, 19th century, tin, apothecary, storage containers with hand-painted, gold gilt labels and a decorative and stylized floral, front embellishment. The gold gilt labels make these early pharmacy canisters really stand out!

The tins sport an early and original, hand-painted, mustard-colored surface patina. The five smaller containers measure approximately 7 inches high x 4 inches wide x 5 inches deep (front to back including the distinctive front floral embellishment). The one large container measures about 8 inches high x 5 inches wide x 5 inches deep.

Structurally, the canisters are very solidly crafted containers, each with a slanted, well-fitting, hinged cover that snaps into place when closed. There are unobtrusive dings, and the finish shows modest wear and paint loss commensurate with a 19th century, well-loved and well-used, dispensary antique.
