Offered for consideration, is a wonderful and rarely found, 19th century American "DENTIST" sign in brass measuring 12 3/4ths inches wide x 7 inches high. The sign advertises the office of "James H. Groom. Dentist.", and remains in fine condition with deep-toned, original patina and with some very minor warping due to its many years of age. The lettering is actually impressed into the surface and is painted black. Any white marks appearing on the front of the sign are due only to light/sun reflection---the sign has a very even-toned coloration. The sign has a hole at each corner to facilitate hanging, or it may be easily displayed upon a shelf! A fabulous , rich-looking display piece with great "eye appeal"!

Measuring 20 inches wide x 8 inches high x 3/8ths of an inch thick, this handsome, beveled glass "DENTIST." sign dates to the turn of the 20th century!Designed to be screwed into a wood surface, the sign has a hole in each corner to facilitate mounting. Although difficult to photograph, this sign is hand-painted on a fabulous piece of heavy beveled glass, no doubt the superior quality and strength of which has allowed the sign to endure intact all of its 108+ years! The letters are painted in gold leaf outlined in black paint. The majority of the paint remains intact with very minor loss as seen in photos. The glass has a few very superficial flakes here and there along the beveled edge as well as a tiny bite to the lower right hand corner (see photo). These are the result of use and are quite minor and do not in any way detract from the presentation of the sign. Not many of these wonderful, vintage glass advertising signs have survived the years, with those advertising "the dentist", particularly uncommon! Quite visually appealing! A great display piece!

Offered is an appealing and unusual pair of late 1900s, gold gilt, painted, wood and metal dentist signs. The signs were acquired from a New Hampshire estate. The wood sign measures 24" long x 7.5" wide, and both signs remain in very, very nice overall condition except for expected areas of paint loss, some crackling and general wear commonly seen with vintage signs of such age-- 80+ years! A notable feature of these wonderful signs are that they are each double sided signs. Both sides of the wood sign are signed ‘ACME’ below the letter ‘T’ in the word dentist. The large sign has eyelet hooks for hanging and the smaller curved sign has 2 tin posts for hanging. A rare and visually appealing piece!
