This complete, 204 page, 1886 atlas is packed with wonderful hand-colored maps of the United States, each individual state, and the countries and continents of the world including two pages devoted to the principal cities of the world. Additionally, this teaching tool provides an interesting history of the political parties of the United States from 1607-1886, a chronological outline of American history from 986 to 1885, an illustration of the seals of each state, population charts, important inventions, an alphabetical list of the towns and counties of each state and many more examples of fascinating and obscure US historical trivia!

The hardbound text measures 14" L x 12" W. The cloth covers are faded with worn edges. The back cover remains bound to the spine. The front cover has become unbound from the book spine but remains loosely attached to the book via its cloth binding. The pages have light unobtrusive foxing while the hand-coloring remains unchanged by time. The majority of the maps and images measure 9.5" x 12" at the decorative borders. There are a handful of larger maps measuring 12" x 16" at their borders, i.e. Texas, Pennsylvania, California, USA, and South America (a bit smaller).

Published by Donahue and Henneberry, Printers and Binders, Chicago, March 1886.

A fabulous historical reference text and atlas that provides a perspective on the United States and the world in 1886. The maps and images are suitable for framing if desired, but this historical text begs to remain intact!

Turn back the clock 70 or more years and imagine what similar, vintage placards looked like tacked upon residential or other public buildings! Rather obtrusive but necessary! Flash forward to the present - today, there are specialized signs, news reports, masks and hospital rooms designed to quarantine the afflicted.

Offered is the sign with the 4 horizontal lines (the more plain sign is sold).

This sign is unused stock from the 1930 - 1940s era, and except for a few edge crimps, is in excellent condition. It measures 14"L x 12"H and is printed on a heavy, bright orange-colored stock. Please note that the colors are even throughout-- the flash has caused the appearance of uneven coloration. Perfect for framing!
