Measuring just 2 inches high, blown-in-mold, 19th century, clear glass bleeding or cupping glass is in excellent condition.

Extensively used in the 19th century and earlier, the cupping glass is a glass vessel from which the air has been exhausted by heat or suction creating a vacuum, and then applied to the skin to draw blood to the surface for therapeutic or curative purposes.

Measuring only 5.5 inches x 6.5 inches framed, this darling little pair of 19th century, American Folk Art, hand-colored lithographs depict two different homesteads in Macon County, Illinois.

One litho appears to be the residence of a “R. Timmons” and the other of a “S. Macon”. The frames are a latter addition, likely circa 1930-40’s acquired by an individual interesting in preserving these colorful and historic pieces of Folk Art. They framing was done at a Greensboro, North Carolina gallery.

Both lithos are darling-- featuring pleasant, pastoral, Folk Artsy, 19th Century scenes! A great pair of mini, decorative and historic accent pieces!

Offered is a very difficult-to-find, large grouping of twenty one, 19th century, porcelain, matching apothecary cabinet drawer pulls, priced at $45 for each pull.

Each pull measures approximately 1.4"W x 1.3"H x 1" front to back (not including bolt). (Please note- "INULA HELEN" is sold.)

The condition of the pulls is very good with only a few minor manufacturing imperfections that add to the desired patina of an antique of this age and period. The decorative gold embellishments painted above and below the medicinal labeling of each pull show moderate loss, primarily "use-wear", due to decades of continual handling over their 140+ years of age. Please note that the "TEREBINT" pull has a rear chip as noted in the individual, close-up photo.

The pulls each sport the following maker's mark on the bottom of the knob: "PAT. FEB 12, 89 - M.D.B. CO. - ST. LOUIS, MO", although on some of the pulls, this marking has been illegibly applied.

Ready for display in your apothecary collection or for retro-chic decorating use on an actual cabinet, be it antique or contemporary!

Offered in this grouping are ten, 19th century, antique tools, seven of which represent the woodworking trade. Collectively, as displayed in the feature photo, these wonderful vintage pieces make a stunning wall display. For the advanced craftsman, these vintage tools remain completely functional and offer one that opportunity to step back in time and create using historic implements.

1) A C1870, American, very appealing, rather primitive IRON SQUARE measuring 24 inches in length on the long side and 12 inches in length on the shorter side. This solid tool shows the worn appearance of a well-used tool with moderate pitting and loss yet still displays its hand-stenciled numerals and measurement points.
2) A C1870, English, impressively-constructed MORTISING CHISEL that is in very good, usable condition. The durable hand-wrought, hardwood handle supports a hearty steel chisel that is stamped, "WR BUTCHER", along with the image of the English crown. English tools are well-noted to be of high caliber construction. This 9.5 inch long has a lovely, warm patina with a slight, 1 inch hairline where the handle joins the metal.
3 & 4) Two, mid-19th century, Pennsylvanian, iron, BENCH HOOKS. This hand-wrought pair sports a twisted iron design and measure 6 and 10 inches in length, respectively.
5) A C1860, American, elegantly formed WOODWORKER’S OPEN SCORP designed to shave away thin slices of wood. This handsome, 17 inch long tool beckons the skilled craftsman’s and designer’s eye, as it is in working condition and sports a lovely, rich patina. A 2 inch long split near the steel does not impact the integrity of the tool or its workable strength.
6) This circa late 19th century, American, 3 inch diminutive bicycle WRENCH retains most of its chrome plating and shows minimal wear. Made by Mossberg Co. of Attleboro, MA., this "Junior No.1" embossed tool is fully functional as it easily opens and closes.
7) A late 19th century/early 20th century, handsomely-shaped, brass and steel, PLUMB BOB measures 4 inches tall, sporting a nice patina and is ready to use. This American piece is embossed "GENERAL HARDWARE MFG CO, NY, NY, USA”, and shows minimal wear.
8) A high-quality, delightfully-designed, American steel, CALIPER made by the Starrett Co., sports a patent date of June 2, 1895, measures 4.75 inches long and remains usable.
9)This cute, 4 inch long, hardwood-handled GIMLET is in very good condition, dates to the 19th century and also remains usable if chosen. The tip terminates in a tiny screw shape to help initiate the boring of holes for screws.
10)The final tool of this grouping is a very lovely, 19th century, steel and brass, adjustable, COMPASS with plenty of life left. It is marked "P.S. & W Co.", measures 6.25 inches long, and is in very good condition.

19thC English instruments are noted for their high quality craftsmanship, and this suppository mold certainly meets this very high standard. Constructed of brass, this footed mold sports 5 tubes for making 2 grain suppositories.

This fine example measuring 6"L x 1.5"W x 1"H, sports a warm patina commensurate with an instrument of this age.

The mold is marked "S. MAW & SONS, THOMPSON - LONDON", a noted manufacturer of quality medical instruments and tools for many years).

Offered is a choice, late 19th century, physician's, Homeopathic Medicine Case No. 1 from Parke Davis & Company.

It is a nearly complete example containing 23 of the original 24 screw cap empty vials! This example was most likely part of a set of 2 or 3 other matching cases offering various additional remedies as the gold printing on the flap notes the following: "TABLET TRITURATE CASE NO. 1. A partial printed label marked "ASSORTMENT A..." indicates that Parke Davis offered a large assortment of different homeopathic medicines.

Each cylindrical vial measures approximately 3 inches in length including the cap. The vials are nestled in the leather case with most of them sporting a small paper label that is hand written or printed upon. The fitted leather case measures 7" long x 1.5" wide x 3.5" high and shows wear commensurate with its use and its 120+ years of age. Modest loss to the flap closure is noted with general wear and mild loss of material. One flap is separated as seen in the photo.

A wonderful pharmaceutical relic representative of late 19th century homeopathic medicine!

This delightfully fancy, 19th Century, cast iron, physician's office sign marked "DR. JOHN LAGAN", once hung on a small building in turn-of-the-century San Francisco, California! It actually survived the famous earthquake of 1906!!

A treasure of early signage designed in the Art Nouveau style, this sign measures 46 inches long by 7 inches wide. The sign weighs at least 25 pounds and sports cast detailing seldom found!

The sign features a delightful and mellow patina with an old painted surface retaining traces of old blue coloring beneath the exterior battleship gray tones. Scattered areas of unobtrusive surface rust add to the wonderful appeal of this vintage sign.

Visually appealing and artfully designed, this vintage piece of signage would make an interesting addition to one's Medical Memorabilia Collection!

Offered is a scarce pharmacy tool of the trade labeled No. 10 TABLET MOULD that was offered by the Whitall Tatum Company. These hard rubber molds were used in most drugstores from the mid 1880s to the early 20th century. This particular size mould made 50 one grain triturate tablets.

This handsome, hand-sized device enabled pharmacists to enhance their productivity. Measures 6 inches long.

Fortunately, the directions and original box still exist. The top plate and base match perfectly together with the pins passing through the holes smoothly. The condition of the mould is very good evidenced by the minimal wear. The box is in fair condition with two top holes noted and general wear from honorable use and time.

Offered is a wonderfully hand-crafted, 19th century SMOOTHING PLANE.

This lovely example has a subtle, coffin-shape form and sports a dovetailed base that was expertly joined. This handsome tool measures 7.25 inches long and retains its original, aged, brownish patina. The owner's initials, "N.S", are stamped on the heel of this plane.

The condition is commensurate with a mildly-used, antique hand tool. There are the expected unobtrusive small dings, scratches and imperfections typically seen in vintage tools. The blade is sharp, well maintained and has a "BUCK BROTHERS" stamp imprinted upon it. The wedge and blade fit perfectly.

A smoothing plane is typically the last plane used in woodcraft, and when skillfully employed, it offers a finish superior to that of fine sandpaper!

Offered is a lovely, double, gutta-percha photograph case holding two mid 19th century, Civil War Era tin types of two different women.

The double gutta-percha case measures 2.5 inches wide x 3 inches long x .75 inches deep when closed, and 5 inches wide when opened. The case appears to be in excellent condition!

The two cased tin types are each further framed within different press-molded, thin, ornate, brass frame and behind a little pane of glass. Each tin type is labeled with the name of the woman: the bonneted woman is Sarah Lavinia Piquet, and the long-haired woman is Maria Rogere.

Mid-19th century age is an approximation based on clothing style as well as decorative art in photo and style of double case.

Condition of tin types is excellent- **ANY white marks seen in photographs are caused by light reflection and are NOT damage.**

Offered is a very scarce, 19th century, strength measuring medical device known as a dynamometer that was manufactured by the G. Tiemann Company, New York, the most renown and respected surgical device manufacturers of the 19th century. Sold in the US by a gymnasium apparatus company out of St. Louis, the Fred Medart Company, the device was designed to assess the strength of the chest, back and legs up to a pull capacity of 1400 lbs.

This fabulous early tool of the medical trade sports a visually-interesting, graphic, brass face with a scale delineating increments from 0 to 1400 pounds. There are 2 dials - one that notes the actual pressure achieved, and the second stationary dial that serves as the reference.

This instrument enjoys wonderful, rich patina on both the metal and wooden sections. It measures 13 inches at the widest point and 10 inches at the wooden handles.

A fabulous device which has great visual appeal and displays wonderfully! Sure to spark some interesting conversation at your next gathering!

This eye-catching, bright, robin's-egg blue painted pharmacy sign from the 1970s measures 14 inch tall x 1/2 inch thick.

This handsome wooden beauty is embellished with a fancy decorated mortar and pestle on top, stylized, Victorian-look lettering spelling out "PHARMACY" in the center, and vintage-look advertising for "LOG CABIN EXTRACT" at the bottom.

The condition is good with slight areas of paint lifting or loss, primarily on the edge.

A tiny "MADE IN JAPAN" label and the original price tag are present on back. Ready to hang!

Offered is a very colorful group of 5, circa 1970s, golf tee matchbook-style packets which served as novelty advertisement giveaways for family-owned ALBERT BROS., INC., Waterbury, CT, a 119 year old scrap metal recycling company.

Each identical packet is designed in the form of a large matchbook and contains 6 painted wooden golf tees and one plastic ball marker.

Each decorative pack measures about 4 inches long x 2.5 inches wide and ALL are in unused condition. The packets have some minor crimps, slight edge tears or general wear from storage over time. One of the packets has a large rip as seen in the photo.

Wonderfully colorful, usable novelty items from a century+ old company with an interesting history in the scrap metal recycling business. Display well and a unique addition to your golf or advertising collection!

Measuring 27 inches long x 18 inches wide, this wonderful, vintage, School Crossing Guard sign remains in all-original condition and is even dated "5-64"!

Offered is this 1959 copyright, LITTLE BLACK SAMBO TELL-A-TALE Book with illustrations by Violet LaMont. A Whitman Book publication, copyright by Western Publishing, Racine, Wisconsin. Hardcover, 28 pages.

A much-beloved children's classic written in the early 1900's by Englishwoman, Helen Bannerman, for her two young daughters while they lived in India, Sambo, in the original tale, was an Indian boy and not an African-American child. He was converted over time to this race, however, by subsequent story tellers and illustrators. This age-old tale tells of Little Black Sambo and his frightening tiger encounter, which fortunately, has a happy ending!

Condition is a 9 out of 10! This book has seen little use with just a teeny bit of wear to book edge points as well as very minor wear in a couple of areas on the exterior binding. Otherwise, intact and tight with no tears, creases, pen/pencil markings or soiling!

Offered is the 1955 edition of Helen Bannerman's, Little Black Sambo book published by the Platt & Munk Company of New York and illustrated by one of P & M's noted artists, Eulalie. The Platt & Munk Company was renown for hiring highly talented artists and illustrators, all of whom who contributed to the company's reputation for publishing exquisitely illustrated children's books.

The dust cover shows its 65 years of age while the book, itself, is nearly mint.

Both the black and white as well as color illustrations are just superb! Unnumbered pages alternate between color and black line illustrations.

A must have addition for the collector of Little. Black Sambo books!

This very colorful and detailed pictorial display salutes the achievement of America's First Apothecary General, Boston's Andrew Craigie, commissioned in 1777. He had served as Massachusetts' Committee of Safety as Apothecary and fought in the Battle of Bunker Hill, continuing to serve American forces throughout the Revolutionary War.

This display is one of a series entitled "The History of Pharmacy in Pictures" produced by Parke Davis in the late 1950's to early 1960's honoring the story of American Pharmacy.

This scene depicts Craigie providing aid during the June 17, 1775, Revolutionary War, Battle of Bunker Hill, Charlestown, Boston, Massachusetts.

This self-framed, white-bordered artwork is constructed of a quality, thick, card board and has a built-in easel on back for displaying. The picture can also be easily framed.

Perfect, intense color throughout - no fading - any glare seen is due to lighting conditions during photography. Measures approximately 21" long x 17.75" wide.

A delightful and diminutive, circa 1950's, Baby Boomer Era, set of children's wooden architectural building blocks marked "Made in Japan".

Measuring a slight 4" x 5", the brightly painted blocks are housed in a highly-detailed cardboard box featuring a colorful graphic of a young child playing with them. This toy was also used in the primary grade classrooms to help develop fine motor coordination and dexterity.

Condition is quite fine with the exception noted of 2 missing blocks.
